1000 mg liposomal vitamin C with sea buckthorn and orange flavor
The close source Liposomal vitamin C contains 1000 mg of easily absorbed vitamin C, with only rosemary extract as a preservative. Vitamin C in various forms is one of our most popular supplements. There has been a lot of debate about its effectiveness. But the problem is not whether it is effective or not, because it is. The problem lies in the absorption of vitamin C. There are two known problems with ascorbic acid in tablet form:
1. The more you take, the worse the absorption - making high doses ineffective.
2. The more you take, the more likely you are to get stomach problems.
One way around this is to take smaller doses throughout the day – not all at once. The body hardly absorbs more than 250-500 mg per time. However, there is a way to ensure high absorption: Liposomal vitamin C. Liposomes offer a higher bioavailability and mean that a greater amount of a nutrient can enter the bloodstream. Liposomes are absorbed through the intestinal wall, as they are made up of the same building blocks as our cell membranes.
Absorption of these phospholipids is a priority for our body and therefore easily reaches its destination where it can exhaust its nutritional content. Vitamin C plays an important role in various functions of our body, such as that it:
- Maintains the normal function of the immune system
- Helps with collagen formation for the normal function of blood vessels, bones, cartilage, gums, skin and teeth
- Ensures normal functioning of the nervous system
- Helps to increase the absorption of iron
- Reduces fatigue and lack of energy
- Helps protect cells from oxidative stress
You don't need to know how liposomal technology works to benefit from vitamin C's beneficial properties, but if you're interested, you can read on.
What are liposomes?
The word liposome comes from the two Greek words "lipo" (fat) and "soma" (body). Essentially, liposomal encapsulation technology consists of microscopic, healthy fat particles made up of phospholipids (phosphate [phospho] bound to a fat molecule [lipid]), such as lecithin.
However, you get very little fat, it is an extremely thin protective layer around the vitamin C itself.
How does it work?
Liposomes form a microscopic sphere. They close like a small ball around the nutrient and form a protective membrane, very similar to the type of membrane that surrounds the cells in the body - almost identical in fact. This membrane shuts out substances from the outside that can destroy the substances on the inside.
Like the cells.
This slightly amazing technology works because of a natural phenomenon that actually makes life as we know it possible. This is the natural behavior of phospholipids that self-assemble into small spheres when in a water/nutrient solution under the right conditions and pressure. Just like the cells. These small bubbles (liposomes) are then automatically filled with the nutrient solution, e.g. Vitamin C, which they were in before they formed.
The uptake.
Liposomes are more efficiently and quickly absorbed by the body than regular vitamin C without disturbing the stomach or intestines. Liposomal nutrient solutions are more bioavailable as it can be absorbed via the intestinal mucosa and go directly out to the cell. This means they are more effective than conventional supplements.
Higher bioavailability.
The term bioavailability refers to the active amount of a nutrient that enters the bloodstream. Both in their water-based interior and in their fat-based double membrane, they can transport substances regardless of charge, size or structure.
Through this optimized absorption, bioavailability can be significantly increased and health results reach their optimal effect. You thus avoid possible discomfort from certain vitamins and minerals in high doses through this "Trojan" dietary supplement.
Liposomes are the solution.
Normal absorption is through a number of transporters in the gut that have limited capacity, leading to limited absorption.
Packing vitamin C in liposomes can instead help them to be taken up by the intestinal cells as they are made of the same material (phospholipids). In addition, stomach problems caused by too much vitamin C are due to osmotic forces. This basically means that vitamin C attracts water - too much water in fact. This leads to imbalances that can cause diarrhea, nausea, stomach cramps and other gastrointestinal disorders. High-dose liposomal vitamin C is distributed in smaller amounts by encapsulating it in lipid spheres. Because the absorption is easier and theoretically faster, the nutrient does not remain in the intestine as long.
All this reduces its osmotic effect and side effects.
