Our collagen is extracted from the environment farmed fish.
Collagen is a fiber-like protein that is found in skin, tendon, bone, cartilage, muscle and connective tissue. 30 percent of the total weight of proteins consists of collagen. The skin is made up to 75 percent of collagen - when you're 25 years - it then decreases it by one percent per year.
Collagen has a function as a support structure and is necessary for muscle and skin elasticity. Collagen is also moisture-binding and thus filling.
The production of collagen decreases with age and thus the agility and elasticity in the skin, connective tissue, joints and muscles. As we turn 60 years, we may have lost up to 30 percent of our collagen. The process starts in the 30's. This may sometimes be heard in joint problems when the cartilage is largely (67%) is made up of collagen and wrinkled skin.
